After graduating from the University of Kentucky, David O. Lykins, Jr. formed Lykins Enterprises in 1977 and started his career in the petroleum business by being an Ashland Oil agent with one small tankwagon. After two years and being confined to only one county by Ashland Oil, he decided to go on his own as an independent jobber. The following four years the company grew from zero gallons to over twelve million gallons annually. After construction of his first convenience store in 1983 it was decided to change the name of the wholesale division to Lyco Fuels. Over the years the company has delivered fuel to riverboats, freight trains, schools, coal mines, power plants, country grocery stores, bluegrass horse farms and everything in between. This wealth of experience led to the company having customers from Pikeville, Kentucky to Broadway Street in downtown Lexington. The company specialized in branding and serving convenience stores. However, commercial accounts were still a very important part of the business. The company has grown from buying only unbranded products to having jobberships with largest major petroleum companies in the world. Throughout the history we were proud to represent 76, Citgo, Shell, Chevron and currently Valero and Sunoco. One convenience store grew into a fifteen store chain, known as Gasoline Alley. After selling & leasing the fifteen store chain. In 2019, Petro Power was formed. We have recently combined with Hightowers Petroleum representing the Sunoco brand. Our office is currently located at 1074 Fairlane Dr. Vanceburg, Kentucky.
